  • Panel: Strengthening the Immune System with Botanicals

Panelists: Paul BergnerDeborah Brammer, NDDavid Hoffmann and David Winston. One topic included in the discussion is nutritional and lifestyle influences on immunity which include food allergies, sugar consumption, pesticide exposure, pain medications, steroid medications and nutrients. These details lead into a more holistic description of immunity and how it can be enhanced with botanicals.  The different levels of botanical effects on the immune system are described: deep immune activation, surface immune activation and hormonal modulators. The proceedings articles by the speakers are helpful, since it is such a huge topic and each article goes into more depth than was possible in the discussion.  See the Southwest Conference 2002 Lecture Notes book
